Reasons to be thankful to God: Those who don’t know how to think of God’s goodness, are likely not to know how or reason to give Him thanks.
Thinking about God’s goodness is one great attitude we need to possess and learn from the scriptures. In Psalm 103:1-5, David informed himself on the need to praise, worship, thank, and reverence God.
And he said to himself, bless the LORD, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name and forget not all his benefits.
He equally outlined some of the reasons why he needed to be thankful and praise God all the time. He is the one that forgives all our iniquities and heals all our diseases.
God had redeemed our life from destruction and crowned us with His lovingkindness and tender mercies. And He satisfies our mouth with immeasurable things and renewed us like the eagles daily.
Every believer should emulate David’s attitude towards thanksgiving, and borrow from his list of reasons to be thankful to God in any situation. David first considered the forgiveness of his sins.
Often we take the blessing of forgiveness of sins for granted. Forgetting that it is because of the Lord’s graciousness and mercy that He chooses to forgive our sins.
There is nothing difficult in, saying “Lord I thank You for the forgiveness of my sins.” We also need to remember and be thankful that our Lord Jesus Christ is still engaged in intercessory prayers for us continually Romans 8:34.
David also mentioned on his list the blessing of healing, the doctors usually use the slogan that says; “We care, but God heals”. Who then besides God should take the glory?
Furthermore, David mentioned deliverance from destruction. We all know that we live in a world that is saturated with evil. It’s only by the mercy of God that we are not consumed by the wickedness and blasphemy of the enemy.
What about His lovingkindness, His faithfulness, and tender mercies that are new every morning. A kindness that is not ordinary but full of love and mercy that is affectionate and adds no sorrow.
Have you ever thought of the food He gives you, His providence, and satisfaction on a daily basis?. He renews your strength every morning like that of the eagle.
And Has filled your mouth with good things so that you are strengthened to go about your daily tasks. Remember you have most times walked in the valley of the shadow of death and He has kept you.
You have also been tempted severally but you escaped the net of the devil and his agents. Can you now take a look around you and count your blessings; and name them one by one, you will be surprised at what the Lord has done.
Do you think you have done enough in thanking Him for sustaining you physically and spiritually? He who in your mother’s womb blessed you with countless gifts of love and care.
You must learn to spend quality times in God’s presence and worship Him like never before. And let it not be a one-off event in your life, but sustain it and make thanksgiving a habitual way of your life.
So, retreat to a secret place of thanksgiving and worship God like never before. Determine to thank Him with your heart, hands, voice, and everything within you.
For, the wondrous things, He hath done. He has kept us in the shadow of His unfailing love and grace and has freed us from all diseases and affliction of the enemy.
All praise and thanks to God, the Father, the Son, and Spirit, who reigns in the highest heavens. Whom everything that lives on earth and heaven adore and worship.
