TEST is an event or condition that shows the strength, worth, capability, or quality of someone or something by placing them under one difficult situation or the other.
It is a deliberate action or experiment to ascertain how well or strong someone is. Meaning there is an unavoidable test for every promotion.
PROMOTION: is an advancement or increase in rank, status, or working condition of a person. Which may be accompanied by some benefits, compensations, and responsibilities.
Whenever someone moves from one condition to another better one, it means promotion has taken place.
For example: If a student performed well and passed his or her examinations. There is always this expression that says ” promoted to… Meaning he or she is now going to another level of education.
Likewise, government and even private company workers also keep their hopes high believing that one day their promotion will come and they will smile and be happy.
As we witness and experience promotion physically, so do promotions happen even in the spiritual realm. Which is the encounter of a breakthrough?
Every individual on earth both small and big wants promotion in his or her different endeavors. Because whenever promotion comes, there are benefits that are attached to it.
Such as increment in salaries, official car, an apartment, etc. One’s promotion can also affect his or her entire life, name, family, friends, and neighbors, etc.
For promotion to happen, one must pass through some test which will introduce him to his promotion. Because promotion doesn’t just happen by magic, you work for it.
The same way some people long for a vocational and physical promotion, so do others long for spiritual promotion (spiritual growth).
In the Bible, there are people who experienced growth in a tremendous way. People who moved from one spiritual level to the other, as a result of their dedication to God.
Abraham was one of them, whom God did not only ask to leave his fathers house for a new place which He would show him.
But whose name God changed from Abram to Abraham in other to match the new plan that God had for him.
Genesis 17:5, What’s more, I am changing your name. It will no longer be Abram. Instead, you will be called Abraham, for you will be the father of many nations.
After that, his status changed, and he was made the father of all nations. Jacob was also another person whom his condition was changed after wrestling with the Lord.
As we go through the scriptures, there are other great men and women of God; whose spiritual lives continue to point the way for people in generations to come.
What of Moses who did not only speak with God as with a fellow human being but also saw God face to face? And many other prophets like Elijah, Elisha, Jeremiah, Dorcas, Isaiah, Daniel, etc.
Who would ever forget King David, the son of Jesse, whom God raised from nothing and made a branch that would produce the Messiah?
When Jesus came, His life was traced to the genealogy of David. In the spiritual consideration and in line with the biblical principles.
The condition for promotion is not an academic qualification or working experience. It is never by a human connection that one gets promotion spiritually.
All the persons mentioned above had gone through the experience of one trial or the other and emerged victoriously. Time may not permit us to count all of them individually.
But let’s talk about these three courageous Hebrew children Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and see how their test finally became their testimony.
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were men of great faith, whose faith was as strong as a rock. They refused to be moved by the doctrinal belief of their time.
And courageously opposed the authority that challenged their faith. They had a peculiar kind of courage that was inspired by faith.
They were faced with temptation, perhaps one of the most difficult temptations man had ever faced in life because it was a matter of life and death.
Whatever decision they make would either throw them into the dungeon of death or leave them at the platform of life. It was a moment of choice for them.
They were to prove whether they were on God’s side or on the side of King Nebuchadnezzar. Who had set up a golden image and commanded everyone to bow down and worship it.
To comply with this order meant they were on the side of the king, but to defy it meant they were on the side of God. And to be on the side of God meant physical death for them.
Obviously, it was only by worshipping this image that they would be spared from physical death, but this was only a twist; it was rather the other way round.
Worshipping an image meant death rather than life and choosing God was a decision to live. They had seen life with God and death with the king. So, they choose life.
It was clear to the three young men that being asked to worship an idol was a test of their faith, and that they had to pass through it to have a testimony.
Because God in Exodus 20:4-6, commanded us never to make for ourselves an idol of any kind or an image of anything in the heavens or on the earth or in the sea.
We must not bow down to them or worship them. For, He, the Lord our God, is a jealous God who will not tolerate our affection for any other gods.
They had made a decision on their lives, and nothing could change that decision. Not even Nebuchadnezzar threat or his fire could turn that decision.
They stood firm in their decision, even when the king ordered that the fire be increased. They kept their faith alive believing that their God will come to their rescue.
And the king ordered for them to be cast into the fiery furnace. What happened in the fire shows that tough times don’t last but tough people do.
Instead of the original three persons that they throw into the fire, they became four. What a supreme and mysterious God we serve.
The faith of these young men moved God, that He stood up from His throne to join them in the fire.
From that moment, their status changed. They were not only known as great men of God, and servants of the Most-High God but they were equally promoted by the king.
Can you now see how their test turns to be their testimony? Moments of temptation are the foundations of promotion and greatness.
What you do with your tempting period determines what happens to you later in life. Time for temptation is actually the time for greatness if managed properly.
It is by going through a test that you have a testimony.
What are you passing through right now? What challenges are lining up in your front? Are you confronted by difficult situations? Are there problems around your life and family?
Know they are building you up for your testimony tomorrow. Certainly, something positive is coming out of that situation if only you can be faithful to God.
Therefore, remain steadfast in the Lord. Because the key to unlocking your promotion is in your faith to God at the time of your test.
We have many examples of how people’s negative situations turned into testimony.
Is it the situation of barrenness? Do you think that’s the end for you? How about Sarah, Hannah, Elizabeth, Manoah’s wife (Samson’s mother), etc.
These women stayed long without having any child. But eventually smiled big at last when God visited them. All those looking up to God for the blessing of children can learn from these women.
Daniel was a clear example to all who are blackmailed and accused falsely. To hold on to God as the only solution for their predicament.
Joseph’s story stands to remind my fellow youth that no matter the number of forces gripping their destinies. They will still sail through and become what God wants them to be.
