Eternal life and eternal death… Physical death is never the final bus stop for a believer rather it is the beginning of eternal life. But an everlasting punishment to unbelievers.
Is God’s life in man, which begins immediately one heard the word of God and accept it. Believed the word of God and received the word of God which is Jesus Christ, as his personal Lord and Savior.
The seed of Eternal life is planted in the heart of every believer, by the Holy Ghost. Once you become born again, washed by the blood, and are regenerated.
The Holy Spirit will now step in and dwell in you by giving you a new life. And also take you into a glorious union with God.
This kind of life man gets when he is saved, is something that separates him from the world, self, and sin. Because when we are regenerated, and the spirit dwells in us.
Everything about us will automatically change because we are now new. According to 2 Corinthians 5:17, which says that If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature the old life is gone; and a new life has begun.
We no longer live for our selves but Christ in us the hope of our glory. This kind of faith that brought us to Christ is a living faith, meaning it is active, productive, and dynamic.
This kind of faith works and produces within the person that possesses it, the spirit of boldness, self-reliance, hard-working, and overcoming.
Those who accept Jesus as their Lord and personal Savior and also received His blood for the remission of their sins.
Remain faithful in their commitment to Him that called them. They have God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in them which keeps them going.
Colossians 2:9-10. For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body. So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority.
Though this life can also be lost, when you carelessly walk back to a life of sin. Which will automatically separate you from God.
And is again under the condemnation of God because sin incurs the death penalty Roman’s 1:18-32.
Paul told Timothy to Fight the good fight of faith, to lay hold on eternal life, 1 Timothy 6:12. ” the word lay hold, is used only on something that could slip from us!
Something that could be lost if handled carelessly. Therefore in other to remain in the beautiful garden of God and also continue in fellowship with Him, we need to apply caution.
Because we are commanded to abide in Him and also walk in His light as He is in the light. For whosoever, that sinneth is of the devil and he has not eternal life abideth in him. 1 John 3:7-10.
Is the destination that awaits anyone who eventually rejects God, rejects the gospel of His Son, Jesus Christ, and continues to live in their sin and disobedience to God.
It is a death that remains from eternity to eternity. Just as spiritual life, by grace through faith in Christ (Ephesians 2:8-9) is everlasting life, eternal death is never-ending.
LET’S CONSIDER THE FOLLOWING VERSES:
And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake. Some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. (Daniel 12:2)
“And they will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous will go into eternal life.” (Matthew 25:46)
And anyone whose name was not found recorded in the Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire. (Revelation 20:15)
It is an eternal separation from God which is the penalty of sin as God declared to Adam and Eve.
In Genesis 2:17 “But you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die”.
Satan in his deceptive way of life came to the man and made a gentle suggestion to man against God’s word and work.
By presenting to them the negative side and light of God. His first message to mankind sows the seeds of unbelieve and doubt as to whether God can be trusted.
When he said to them, “Has God indeed said? the beginning of his statement alone shows that God is untrustworthy.
In verse 4 The serpent said to the woman, “you will not surely die”. Not only would they not die, in verse 5 but they would be in control, free to determine right and wrong.
Meaning, they would be equal to God! This thought naturally led them to think and believe that their obedience to God was irrelevant.
He succeeded in making them see God as a lie, wicked, and unreliable. And also believed that God was holding back His good things from them.
By telling them not to eat of the tree that will make them have the knowledge of good and evil. But as the first people created on earth by God Himself.
I believe they must have gathered much knowledge about the mind and personality of God through His hand works and the discussions they had with Him.
They have also seen the beauty of His mind, and how His mind provided things beautiful and delightful to enjoy.
They were in a beautiful garden made by God, which reflected the mind of God. Satan successfully brought Adam and Eve into a spirit of competition against God, resulting in the enmity with God.
He indirectly lied about God Himself, and directly lied about the penalty. Giving them misinformation about the consequences of what they are about to do.
Finally, God cursed man and kicked them out of the Garden for disobedience. He banished them from the Garden of Eden and inflicted various curses on them.
Mostly having to do with dust, toiling, crawling, eating, etc. and experiencing various forms of enmity, difficulties, and pains. (Genesis 3:16–24).
From that day they sinned, creation changed. Instead of ruling over creation and taking care of it as commanded by God in Genesis 1:28, man now struggles against it.
Turning the harmony, peace, and glory, they once enjoyed in the beginning to pain, strife, and toil. Which is not how it was supposed or made to be!
They also lost spiritual direction and physical contact with God. Sin causes death and separates one from God. Sin also attracts God’s anger and curse both in this life and in that which is to come.
Isaiah 59:2. But your iniquities have separated you from your God. And your sins have hidden his face from you so that he will not hear.
In as much as we all know and believe that all people are heading in one of the two directions. Either towards God which is eternal life, or away from God that is eternal death.
Let every one of us embrace Christ, accept Him as the Lord and Savior of our souls. Turn away from all sins and decide today in your heart never to go back to them.
If you will sincerely tell God to cleanse and forgive you, He is faithful and just to answer you immediately. For God doesn’t want anyone of us to perish.
That was why He sent His only Son, that anyone who believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16.
He will change your life and set you on the path of righteousness. Then eternally with God in heaven will be yours.
But if one chooses to reject Him by living in sin eternal death is inevitable.
